\nI think the issues raised around resistance to change are valid and all of us, I'm sure, have experienced working with those who are not only resistant to change, but deliberately undermine the process.
\nIt would be good to help eachother with more strategies to use in these cases.
\nFor my part I had an excellent staff meeting on Thursday, at which we discussed the NGA, NQF and NQS using a slide show and your excellent Fact Sheets. I also included these in the new Committee member folders.
\nWe looked at QA1 listed our strengths, and reflected using the Questions to Guide Reflection in the Guide to the NQS. I wrote these up on butcher's paper and provided a summary attached to the staff meeting minutes. These were added to the QIP and that section of the plan included in the handout.
\nEach of the 4 teams then selected a folded piece of paper on which another QS written. Their homework is to use the Questions to Guide Reflection to assess the centre as a team to present to the next meeting. We'll look at 2 QAs per meeting. Each team has a copy of the relevant standard to use.
\nWe'll see how we go.
\nsee you in April.

\nThis sounds very proactive and a great way to get the whole team working together. Can't wait for an update from you to see how it is all progressing!

\n
\nI thought I'd be brave and post a message.
\nCarolyn I really enjoyed our first meeting in Bathurst last Wednesday - unlike other training sessions, I believe this "tailored" approach will support us all at our different levels of familiarity and confidence with the NQF.
\n
\nI've been thinking about the "homework" and considering the "team knowledge" of the NQF, NQS and EYLF in my setting. I can confirm that, just as with our group, there is a range of perceptions here, but I am confident that as we continue to discuss and include the language of these initiatives in our meetings and documentation everyone will grow in understanding.
\n
\nHow relevant all this is to our daily practice will determine to what extent we embrace the principles, and at what rate we develop familiarity with the process of quality improvement. I found it useful to open up the Quality Improvement Plan Template and and read it in conjunction with the Guide to Developing a Quality Improvement Plan (Section 4. of the NQF Resource Kit). I have saved the template onto my desktop and add
\n"strengths" as I see them. I use these to start discussions with staff (always good to start with the positives).
\n
\nWith such a large, experienced staff I am able to ask staff in each of the 4 classrooms to consider a Quality Standard next term - to list the strengths and suggest any improvements. These will be added to the "skeleton" QIP I have started.
\n
\nMy concerns are around involving a new mangement committee in this process after the AGM next week.
\nAny thoughts?
